File severely damaged and cannot be opened

My hard drive crashed but I was able to rescue all of my files. My problem is that some of my Filemaker files will open and some say that the "file" was not created by filemaker or is severely damaged and cannot be opened... Does anyone have any advice on how to possibly retrieve these files??? I tried the recovery mode with no luck...... HELP!!!!!

If you're on a mac OSX, you can reset type, creator and extensions and so on using Xray, it's a $10 shareware program. Perhaps it helps in this case. From personal experience I can tell you it's saved me lots of time and aggravation in various (other) situations.

 

Perhaps there's something like that available for windows also.
