currency calculations

Don't shoot me down guys! I am a complete newbie to Filemaker and only just literate in computer terms!! I have a simple database where one column refers to a a payment. I need to know how to make that column calculate the running total without me having to physically add it up. Advice gratefully received and once agin apologies for asking what I'm sure to find out is a relatively simple question. I am on a Mac dual 1Ghz G4.

Creat summary field for having total payment and if you want it be runing check "runing total checkbox" in field definition.
