importing from file 1 into file 2

I do a lot of importing and have to set the fields to import for several different file1 (s). Is there a way to rearrange the fields in file 1 so the ones used most often follow sequentially?

This would prevent me from having to scroll past numerous un-needed fields to find the one I need.

The default order of fields in the import dialog is in creation order. But the easiest way to get them to match is to use the same names for equivelant fields, then just match by name. If you do the same import regularly, you can store the import order in an Import Records[] script step.
