Counting

Good Afternoon,

I have a calculation

If ( Days Calaloo Fish Marination > 3 ; 1 ; 0 )

that results in "1" for each time this Marination exceeds 3 Days. I have separate Calculations for 3 different Marinated Products. The results display in a Sub Summary Report looking something like the following:

Chicken Fish Calaloo Total

Marination Over 3 Days 1 2 2 X

What I am trying to do is Calculate X [Total] which is the total number of time the marination time exceeded 3 days. In this case X = 5.

Not sure if this is enough information but any help would be appreciated.

If ( Days Calaloo Fish Marination > 3 ; 1 ; 0 )

The IF conditional is unnecessary because the expression will resolve to 1 or 0 if it is true of false. So you can just have it as

Days Calaloo Fish Marination > 3

Try creating a Summary field (count) to generate the total you want.

Thanks Vaughan for the suggestion.

If I do as you suggest I believe I would only get a Count Summary of only one type of Marinated Product over 3 days of age. Since I have 3 Products would I then have to Summarize them as a Total [sum].

Hi Greg,

You could use a calculation field to add together the three summary fields (however if you want them to appear correctly within subsummary parts you should use the GetSummary( ) function when referencing them).

Or alternatively, you could create a calculation that returns a composite value for all marinated products, then summarize that. So Cool!
