creating a database for multiple users

Hi guys,

I want to create a database that can be accessed and amended by multiple users.

Couple of questions:

1) Will this work if everyone has a copy of FM7 and the main database document sits on a server or would I need additional software?

2) Can multiple users log in at a time and will changes update immedialtely for all users or will changes only show everytime somebody logs back in?

3) Some users have Macs, some have PCs - will there be any compatibility issues?

4) As the Admin, can I see who else is logged in at the moment?

Many thanks,

Axis

All of these questions are addressed when you use FM Server to host the databases.

Do NOT put the files on a shared network volume. Put them on a computer dedicated to running FM Server (or FM Pro at a pinch).

I have a small (ten client) network, one G4 runs both fmserver 5.5 and acts as OSX server (panther) with no problems or performance issues.
