RJJOYE
Currently useing v6 and sharing to about 8 person at once. 38 databases in all. We are currently file linking (6000+ current links) would like to start embedding adobe image files utilizing v7 large file size. 7 only allows 5 users at a time. We are useing our server for a windows server as well. My understanding is you have to turn off windows file srever to run server 7. I also run automation task every 10min, 2 hours etc using startup scripts. Will server 7 let you open databases. Server 6 would only let you serve them up. Any ideas?? CobaltSky
No, FileMaker Server 7 will not itself provide you with access to the files. However I have heard of some folks who host the files on server and then run a copy of FileMaker Pro on that same machine to access the files. I don't necessarily recommend this to you - I would prefer to open the files from client software on a different machine - but if you have some special reason for needing to do this it may be worth a try. Of course you will back up everything before you try out any new configuration, won't you...
Officer Ron
if you do host with server 7 and run FMP7 on the same computer/server. Make sure you have lots of memory. 512Mb RAM minimum otherwise you computer will run extremely slooooooooooow.
