If field isnt unique display alert?

Okay, I have a form which is used to add a vehicle and assign it to a staff member, the names are assigned with a pop-up list, i was just wondering, is there a way to make it display an alert and only an alert if the name is already used for another car / not unique?

 

Basically just want it to say, Alert! Assigning multiple vehicles to one person may cause errors in report viewing.

 

or somehting kind of thing.

You can validate the field to have a unique value, display your own message if the validation is triggered, and choose if the user may or may not override the validation. go to define field -> field options -> validation
