Bones
Thank you in advance for bearing with a few questions from this "Trial User" of Filemaker Pro. Thus far, the program is very impressive. I successfully transfered a few of my past databases over (from Paradox). I understand that with any program, you can't have everything, but here are my initial questions: -Copy/paste functions seem limited. I often like to append new records to the database by using Copy/Paste functions. Often this is just entered into the first column, transfered by Clipboard from another program. For example, select a column of data from say an Excel file and paste it into a column in Filemaker Pro. I cannot get Filemaker to append records to a database like this. Any thoughts. -I cannot find the Filemaker Pro equilavent of the Ctrl-D. command. In most programs, Ctrl-D copies the field above into the selected field below. Continued successions of Ctrl-D combined with the down arrow allows you to copy the same data field-to-field down the same column. Filemaker Pro seems to only respond (rather slowly) to drag and drop. Any thoughts? Thank you!
Maarten Witberg
Hi, Q1: this can be achieved using the import function. Q2: this can be scripted. Do you want to copy field values to another field in the same record, or from a field in one record to a corresponding field in the next record? kjoe

Ender
Yes, just had my coronation today. I suppose now I'll have to be 'polite' and 'responsible' in my posts. To set a good example.
