MrEase
is the list a value list taking its data from a related table? If so index the key fields, the field the values come from and check relationships, see if it helps.
Donal
No. Tried with two simple fields with a value list of 10 items.Opened file on mac(osx) and pc(xp) (we use both here) and result was slower on pc.

Leader
Hmm... I used FM7 under XP, but of course there could be dozens if not hundreds of variables between 2 configurations. You do have the latest updates, right? Is the 2nd time it pops up equally as slow as the first? Anything weird regarding fonts? I know that sounds like an odd question, but I've seen some fonts render slower than others, particularly if anti-aliasing was turned on. Hmm... Felix Kortrijk
during a local FileMaker Developer's meeting it was suggested that the problems with pop-up lists taking a long time to display was that there was a display incompatibility between Windows (not Mac) and FMP v7 as it related to multiple windows being open at the same time. The explanation that was given was that when FMP v7 opens a file, even in hidden mode, it also opens a window. Each of these open windows conflict with the pop-up process. However, if files are not opened with a script, but rather by a relationship, those files are in a "hidden hidden" mode and the problem does not occur. Officer Ron
FileMaker is aware that there is an issue witht he pop up lists and should be addressing it in their next patch. In the meanwhile I've found that using pop-up menus instead is much faster. The problem seems only restricted to pop-up lists.
Donal
I am amazed that this is not visible to all users. Are there different versions of software issued in each continent. Most users i have spoken to have noticed this. Popup menus look strange and very unprofessional.Any ideas when patch is due
coolfile
Hello There Just to give you an idea, your value list will be slow as you know if - getting data from anther file - From anther value list But if you reduce the amount of windows open in filemaker, you will See the difference, you value list will become a rocket. Officer Ron
the only problem is that if you use scripts to go to related records in a specific layout you have to "Show in New Window" otherwise the scrpt doesn't bring you to the script doen't work. BUG BUG BUG !!!! Hope it gets addressed soon. Users are very annoyed.
