I screwed up big time

blackcat

Question

Before I Start, I know I should have backed it up!! but I didn't!

Have runtime solution I made but lost the original, I selected'Permenently prevent modification of database strutcure' as you do but I need to get access again. I can save a copy which gives me all the field names but all the calculations & all the scripts are gone.

Question: Is there a way to recover from this disaster? do you think filemaker themselves could do it?

Thansk in advance

Hi Steve,

FMI themselves have been very clear that they are not able to restore access to a file that has been stripped in this way by the developer tool (FMD). Moreover they have never provided such a service and still don't.

I'm sorry that the news is not better...

Thanks Ray

I thought that that would be the case.

The problem is not such an issue now as it just means that it brought the development of version 2 forward somewhat. This was something that I was thinking of doing soon anyway.

So far, from the the work on V2 I have found that I have made some the origional functionality much more streamlined & efficient in dealing with scripts.

Roll on V2 should be ready for Beta test in about 4 days.

Again Thanks anyway.

A note for everyone reading this thread, please learn from my mistake of leaving the backup periods too far apart.

You think it won't happen, & even it if did you could recover from your disater, TRUST ME sometime things happen that you cant account for - BACK IT UP!!!
