Document Image Scanning

Hi there,

 

I have a lot of documents that I want to scan them all and insert into Filemaker document database - container field. Is there anyway to automate this task? I cannot make them by hands because I really have a huge number of documents.

I have not tried this myself yet but there is a plugin called 'Inside Scan' that should enable you do what you require.

In my opinion if You really have many documents it is NOT advisable to enter them in container fields as this will rapidly slow down Yr Database to a crawl.

Beside that the file size could exceed the 2 Gb Max size (around 600/700 scanned A4 will do that): beyond that the file is 'fried' with no way to ever recover it.

it is better to link only the container fields by reference so that the reference only is stored in Yr file.

The contents of these fields will be displayed whenever needed quickly.

If these fields are only to be displayed on screen consider utilising the JPeg format.
