dj
With Developer 5.5 you can create DDR (Data Design Report) in XML format or as FMP5 file which is very usefull for documenting, debugging optimizing your DBs: Also, tools like Analyzer 3.0 needs XML DDR for woking. Personaly I found it (FileMaker 5.5 Developer) a must have product. Dj Gogi Originally posted by blackcat:[qb]What are the differences between ver 5 & 5.5 of the Developer software? andygaunt
Black Cat, Definitely go for version 5.5 of developer. It is a change from previous versions in that it is now filemaker client with developer tools built in. One of the most useful (apart from the DDR pointed out by dj) is the debug scripts. The ability to step through a script one line at a time, and see exactly what it is doing is invaluable. And also stepping through multiple scripts and external scripts without having to quit scriptmaker, go to that related file, open scriptmaker and then find the right script will save many hours. And then, if you do see a problem, just click a button and be taken to that script in scriptmaker, wherever it is in the list and then edit saves a lot of time.
