Working with Portal Records and Photos

Recommended Posts

I have tried find an answer to this, but have not been able to yet.    I have a database with a people and their cars.  I have 3 tables, Person, Cars and Car Picture.   I have a portal row on my layout to show if someone has multiple cars.  My problem is that I can add multiple pictures, but they are all coming up with the same description of the car.   Not sure if I am handling the portal correctly or if the structure is the problem.

The structure is incorrect. But some questions before offering a solution.  A layout based on car could have a portal based on picture, and that would show the correct picture.  With another portal based on owner, would show the correct owner.

Can 1 car have multiple photos?

Can 1 car have multiple owners or change owners.  If so, do you want to keep records of every person who owned that car?

On what table/table occurrence is the layout based?

On what table/table occurrence is the portal based.

Hi.  Thanks for replying.

1 car can have multiple photos

Each car will have only 1 owner

Layout is based on Person Table

Portal is based on the CarPicture Table

Ok. Here is my update. It seems to be working now, but I think I should have some other foreign key in the CarPicture table to tie it to the Person table too? I just don't want anything getting mixed up.
