import.xls How to Import .xls with script on a button

Dear FM Forum,

I have FM 15 Advanced for Windows, but rather a newbie to FM.

I would like to automate the ability of my users (teachers) with a button  that will allow each

teacher to import an excel spreadsheet of their grouped students assigned to each class that each teacher has.

Each student already has a serial number in the .xls so no auto enter serial is necessary.

Could some of you  please discuss, or refer me to a script I can begin to work with, to perform such

An import in the button setup.

Your advice would be much appreciated.

Greetings Jess. Attached is one option.

Essentially, you have the user drop the file into the container field. From there you have 2 options.

1. Give them a button to "Import" the file.
2. Use a script trigger to automatically run the script.

 

Make sure that you use Show All Records so that any existing records already in the file can be imported without creating duplicate records.
