Murph
Hi there, I am new to filemaker and struggling to find a solution to my problem. I have one table with Subject (parent) and another table with Test (child). Each Test is repeated by each Subject at 5 different Timepoints. I would like to set up the Timepoint value list (in the Tests table) in such a way that it automatically omits items (timepoints) that have previously been selected for the same record (Subject), showing only items (timepoints) that remain available. Any easy solution? Many thanks, Murph
doughemi
This is called a "dwindling value list". You can find a number of examples with an internet search for that term.

Murph
Ahem..I tried but I can't figure out how to make it work in my situation. Scheme of my Database: - Subject table (parent) - Test table (child) I create new records in the "Test" table where I can also select the subject (previously created in the "Subject" table) that performs the test. Every subject performs the same test 5 times (5 different timepoints). In the "Test" table there are several fields specific for that test performed by that subject at that timepoint. Every time I create a new record (test) for a subject in the "Test" table, I want to assign to it a specific timepoint that will not show up as a selectable option when creating a new record (test) for the same subject. I hope this make sense. Please help Thanks
doughemi
Please give more concrete sample data. Your generic description does not give enough information.
