Stay on the field that fails validation

Hi

I have a SKU Entry layout. When a user enters a new SKU and tries to exit the SKU field, a "OnObjectValidate" script trigger is invoked. The Script checks if the SKU already exists in database,if it does,an error message is displayed. All this is working fine.

My problem is after the error message is displayed, I want the cursor to stay in the SKU field so the user can change the SKU. I have a "Go To Field[sKU]" defined in the script after the error message. BUT the cursor goes to the next field "Description". I am unable to make the cursor stay in SKU field.

Any help in this is highly appreciated. I am using FMP 10.

Thank you

You need to add an Exit Script line with a result of False when your validation fails

You can use the Exit Script script step within the triggered script to return True or False.

  • True: The event that triggered the script proceeds.
  • False: The event that triggered the script is canceled.

See: OnObjectValidate
