SMTP through IWP

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how to send an email through IWP with SMTP email.

 

I am using Port 465 and SSL, and have tested this locally on my computer. It works with my FM 10 Adv, but when I try the same email script in IWP it doesn't work.

 

Please let me know if anyone can help. I searched the other forum posts who had similar questions but no answers.

A script that sends mail using SMTP Server will execute properly via IWP, assuming it will execute properly from FileMaker Pro. At least there's no built-in reason it won't (i.e., it's not IWP-incompatible or anything).

 

Things to watch out for: the "computer" that executes the script when sending via IWP is not the end user's computer but instead the FileMaker Server box. If you are hosting via a hosting company they may have filrewall settings that block communication with your SMTP server. If you are hosting the database yourself, it may be a setting on your FileMaker Server box.

 

Check your server log and see what arcane error message is being logged when you try to execute the script via IWP. I admit they aren't very helpful most of the time but it may give you a clue what the issue is.

Ok, so I checked and there isn't a firewall.

Still looking into the logs on the server and I will see what that says.
