Encrypting Text Field

Is there any way to encrypt, scramble, ****** (please provide proper term for this function) text fields after data has been entered. I have two personal information-sensitive text fields which the users do NOT wish to display in browse mode unless the field is clicked upon to activate. Once they click into the field, they want to be able to view the data behind the *****.

High security (i.e., needs to be as close to uncrackable as technology can make it), or low security (don't want the average Joe Employee to see and understand the field contents), or somewhere in between?

There are a lot of simple easy text-manipulation tricks that can be done (in one direction) and undone (in the other) sufficient for low-security. Check out Code () and Char(), for instance. For high-security you want an algorithm such as PGP.
