Displaying Fields as Rows

Hi all,

I have 4 columns StudentId, Subject1, Subject2, Subject3 in a table Enrollment. Capturing of data is done via Form Layout. Finally I want the captured data to be displayed into a portal like this:

StudentId Subject1

StudentId Subject2

StudentId Subject3

Say for instance if there are 2 Students then data should display like this:

John Maths

John English

John Physics

Peter Stats

Peter Chemistry

Peter English

Finally suggest if there is some alternative way to capture and display data to fullfill my requirement?

Thanks,

-DS.

First, get rid of Subject1, Subject2, Subject3, and Subject4 fields.

Each Student record should have portal records where each related portal record is a subject, from 0 to an infinite number of subject and therefore just one Subject field, in the portal table. That portal table would also be linked to a Subjects table in which each subject appears once and only once. When you pick a Subject ID in the portal, you've created a record in the portal table that is the record of ONE student taking ONE subject. That's called a join table.

Then you can create a portal table list view like so:

set up this in layout mode, these two fields in the Body part of the List View layout:

Student::Student Name...... Subject::Subject Name

In Browse Mode, as a list, it becomes:

John Maths

John English

John Physics

Peter Stats

Peter Chemistry

Peter English

Dude, you might be able to understand the requirement by looking at this attached picture; this screen is capturing data for every customer. What I really want is to display the above captured details (Agreement#, Item#, Unit#) on a different tab as > on a PORTAL. For e.g

Agreement# Item# Unit#

123456 G25 78-101

123456 M25 79-102

987621 G25 78-102

345677 G25 78-103

Is this possible in FORM LAYOUT using PORTAL?

Mant Thanks.
