Password Entry Field for IWP

I'm working on an IWP-compatible project. I've created scripts and layouts that make user password changes possible. However, there's still one thing that I cannot figure out: How to make password entry fields that just display dots and don't display the literal password characters? Anyone know any tricks to accomplish this?

If I didn't have to make this project IWP-compatible, I'd use the "Show Custom Dialog" script step.

I don't have time to look for it now, but I think there is a custom function on BrianDunning.com that might work for you.

Why not use the account management functions in Filemaker? The normal login dialog already does this. Re-Login is not IWP compatible, however, it dumps you back to an opening page, where the user can re-login.

There are tremendous advantages to using FMs built in account management. The power of privileges, in particular, when you get into the "limited" scope, is just amazing.

If you really want to use your own, the simple way is to set the field entry to the same color as the background, so it is not visible. However, highlighting the field shows the text.

I've also tried using a button that, after entry, changed the font color and type, but you can still see the text when highlighted. Then I tried a container field (uneditable) over the text field, and when clicking the login button, it sets a solid color graphic in the container, and changed the text on the button to re-login. Clicking again, would clear the graphic (set field "") but this was clunky.

The next option would be to use a font that is made up of non-human readable characters. I created a font where every character is a large dot.

In the end, I went back to the FM native solution, to gain all the power of the privilege controls.
