Relationships, Lyouts & Value Lists Disappear

Hi.

 

I have created a pretty large database with Filemaker 8 Advanced.

 

When I opened the project I was working on today, I found that I could not use certain layouts/relationships/value lists in scripts and field definitions. These layouts/relationships/value lists have not been deleted and can be viewed ... but not used!

 

I can create new relationships and new Value Lists as normal but they subsequently do not appear in the drop down lists when I try to select them for use with fields on a layout or in a script.

 

All these relationships/value lists/layouts were available yesterday and could be used with scripts & layout fields then. Now they cannot.

 

I tried recovering the file but the same problem still exists.

 

Has anyone come up against this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot finish the project otherwise.

It sounds like a symptom of file corruption. You might be able to fix it by doing a Save As (Compacted Copy).

 

If that doesn't solve it, test a backup from a few days ago and move it your data into a clone of that.
