peterc
I am trying to use the fusioncharts for filemaker (they are nice), but I cant work out how to create the data string from a found set. The actual data I need can be found in a summary report, but that is no use. I have exported the data and used a relationship to that file and although it worked, it is clumsy and has its own problems. Is there a calculation, custom function or even a script that I could use within the same table, to get a summary list that would be suitable? (and please not let it be tooo complex!!!) Ender
Hey peter, A general algorithm for building chart strings from summary data can be found here: http://www.filemakertoday.com/com/showpost.php?p=42530&postcount=6 The exact format of the strings may vary depending on the charting method and type of chart you're building. peterc
Thank you for that. It is what I am after so I will have a go at trying to understand it. I see that you were the original poster, so would you mind if I PM you if I get stuck?? I really thought that FMP would of had an easier way as I felt that summary data in a list would not be an uncommon request.
Ender
Well, FileMaker generally uses sub-summary reports to show summaries, but those aren't in a list that you can easily pop into a string. If you have questions, just post them here and we'll try to work through them.
