newsouthoffice
Hey I haven't been around in a bit, but I wanted to ask what is a good book to read about databases? I am building one for my firm using filemaker, and I want it to work right the first time so I'm still in the design concept mode. I am reading all that I can find. Thank you. Ender
Before you start development, you really should upgrade to a newer version. It will be much easier to find resources for FM8 or FM9 than for version 5. But more important, the newer versions are far easier to develop in, and are better performers over the network. Ender
Maybe you can say more specifically what type of information your looking for. I imagine there's a wide range of books and web sites about general database design & theory. The pool of FileMaker Development books is smaller, and probably more about how to build things in FileMaker (not so much about relational design theory). A good resource, if you've got a training budget, is the FileMaker Developer Conference. A few days of sitting around with a bunch of FileMaker geeks is bound to get something to sink in.
