keiththirgood
I have an Access database I need to open in filemaker Pro 7. Any idea how this can be accomplished, without using Access? The only format I have to work with is an .mdb file.
AHunter3
Use OpenOffice or NeoOffice on the Mac to open the file, then export the data from each table to .tab or .xls or other common format. You'll have to build the screens, reports, routines, connections between tables, and everything else other than indiv set of rows & columns from scratch. The underlying formats do not convert for anything else, too different.
keiththirgood
When I try to open the file using NeoOffice, it opens as a writing document. Over 8000 pages of code. It won't open at all using the database wizard. It only opens using "open document". Suggestions?
AHunter3
Sorry, I have very seldom dealt with Access myself.
Techphan
I also have never worked with Access. But I believe that Access can be ported into Excel (although there might be a 64,000 record limit) and then into Filemaker.

I just checked my work copy of Access (v 2003) and once you open an Access file it can be exported into the following formats: dBase III (I have imported these into Filemaker) dBase IV, 5 Excel 3, 4, 5-7, 97-2003 Lotus - several Paradox - several (remember this one?) RTF ODBC others
keiththirgood
Unfortunately, I only have an Access database file to work with. I don't have Access, as it is only for Windows and I'm on a Mac. I also don't have anyone who has Access on Windows to export the file in another format for me. I need a Mac-based way to open an Access .mdb file and then save or export it into something FileMaker might be able to handle.
