AppleDean
My friend gave me an unregistered copy of Filemaker Pro 5.0 but he can't find the install disk. Would anyone be able to make me a copy of the 5.0 install disk and mail it? I can send money via Paypal. I'm pretty sure that this is legal to do, since I have my own registration code, I just need a copy of the install disk. Thank you for your help. AHunter3
? If you have a copy of FileMaker 5.0 for MacOS, what do you need with an installation CD? It should just run when you double-click it. (or are you just wanting it to have YOUR registration code and company name etc showing in the splash screen?)
AppleDean
Sorry, I should have clarified. I have the registration code (+manuals, etc.) but not the software CD. It sounds like from reading another post that it would be illegal for me to get a copy of a CD from someone else. I guess that you can only get them directly from Filemaker. Maarten Witberg
I guess that you can only get them directly from Filemaker. trouble is, Filemaker discontinued support for version 5 which is eight years old and 6 versions ago. You're in a bind... Version 5 requires Classic or OS 9 if you run it on Mac. This is not available in Leopard.
AHunter3
Correct, although there was a MacOS X version of FileMaker 5.5. It would run in Rosetta on any Intel Mac, or natively on a PowerPC Mac.
AppleDean
Thank you for the info. I have OS 9 so that's no problem. I just thought that this would be a cheap way to start using Filemaker. I'm looking to see if I can buy an upgrade to a newer version so that I could use the registration code that I have.
Maarten Witberg
essentially that's the same story... you can't upgrade any longer from version 5. You might try amazon or ebay, but watch out for pirated software.
