summarize data in a portal?

Can anyone recommend a way to summary data in a portal?

 

I have a table of detailed items. There are multiple detail records may contain the same ID number.

 

I would like my portal to summarize by ID number and add the totals.

 

I used the "getsummary" function to sum the totals but I'm still seeing duplicate ID numbers in the portal. I want to see only one occurance of the ID with the totals.

 

I don't want to do this in a sub-summary report because I want to be able to select any id number in the portal and jump to the detail of those related records into another layout.

 

I hope this makes sense. Can anyone suggest a way to do this.
