Linda01
Dear all I am creating a work permit database. I want to give a warning message if a new permit is created when one already exists for the same building and the issue / expiry date falls on or between the issue / expiry date for an existing permit i.e. you want people to know if they are about to issue a permit for Hot Work when one has already been issued which involves switching off the sprinkler system in the same building on the same day. I am trying to do this using a self join table and a calculation field with a Case calculation which posts a message if the criteria are met, however the message returns on every record. Any thoughts - does it mater that I am mixing text & dates in the same calculation? Thanks Linda

Ender
You need to exclude the current record from the self-join by adding a ≠ match between the record ID and itself.
