Paul Jackson
We have a filemaker pro 5 database at work with 7 columns, and about 240 rows [all with data entered]. I want to add two extra columns to the database, but have no idea how to do this. Any helpful soul out there who can assist ??? Many thanks............ touchMe
7 columns and 240 rows? would tell me that you are viewing-as-a-table. The [head] top row contains your field names and the rows below are your records, you want to add two new fields then... Go to the screen you describe and browse, click on the FILE menu and select DEFINE FIELDS, add the two fields [column names] and you are done! David Head
...would tell me that you are viewing-as-a-table Excepting the fact that FileMaker Pro 5 didn't have a table view. smiley-wink But your advice is correct. smiley_cool

David Head
Oops! My sincere apologies - Table view was introduced in version 5. Sorry for the misinformation. Just to let you know I plan to be at your 10am shift later in the year, so be nicesmiley-wink Well make sure you say g'day. And I will try to "touch" you with some custom functions that should be interesting. But no heckling please. smiley-wink

But no heckling please. smiley-wink Yeah... you had me hitting the books there Mr H, I was trying to remember, we skipped 5, think it was coz we felt hard-done-to with the Unlimited thing and Lasso/CDML stuff kinda made more sense at the time on 4, but whatcha do? - we love FileMaker! I will most certainly say g'day to ya, might even crack open a tin of Fosters or whatever with ya, although Guinness is my tipple (being Scots born), and hopefully I will have stumped up the thirty-bucks to get rid of the touchMe handle by then (my wife thinks it makes me sound like... well whatever [nobody here will understand me if I say Garry Glitter! ha!]), it came from a bit back in my excitement re; iPhones and Pods etc., and when I thought Air might be coming out as a touchTablet - still want something like that C'ya Robinsmiley-smile
