relational value list from another file

I am trying to create a value list using a relationship between two separate files.

 

I have an invoice database and an address book database. I have created a relationship which will find all my clients by name. I can see this work within a portal. I am using a field called 'client lookup' which uses the value 'client' to match to a catogory within my address book called 'client'.

 

When I try to create a value list that uses this relationship it does not display any values.

 

Is it possible to create a value list that includes only related field values from another file?

In the define value list dialog - 2ed radio button down is an option to create a value list from another file.. allowing you to specify the file and the field.

Actally my previous post is not quite correct -- the option allows you to use a value list created in another file ..
