can i install filemaker 5.5 on windows server 2003

Windows Server 2003 was not around in the times of FileMaker Server 5.5. therefore there would not be expected to be any documentation on that. The best you can do is to try to install it and see if it works. Obviously, FileMaker Server 5.5 is not certified to work on Windows Server 2003.

Also see other similar threads listed below this reply. Some people have had it working fine, others have had issues.

We actually run FM server 5.5 on Windows 2003 and it runs smoothly.

I actually use FMS 5.5 on a old mac and i'd like to install on my other server under windows server 2003.

Could you please help me, i don't know how install the FM Server and where to put the files ...

Thanks by advance,

Insert installation CD and install FmServer, it's just point-and-click.

Once it is installed, the fp5 files go inside the Program Files/FileMaker/FileMaker Server 5.5/ folder, preferably within a subfolder but no deeper than that.

Multiple solutions would each go in their own solution folder (ideally, for easier management, not that it makes a whit of difference to the end users or to FmServer itself).

In other words, pretty much the same as how you'd do it on the Mac with the EXCEPTION that unlike Mac Server 5.5 you can't manually fish around for files located elsewhere and open and serve them, they really need to be in the default location.

Get on comfy terms wtih the Windows server command line:

cd C:\Program Files\FilemakerFileMaker Server 5.5

fmserver stop

stops the server

fmserver start (from the same path) starts the server.
