kev100
Hi, I've got a very simple contacts database, on my MacBook using 10.5.2. Suddenly I can't print to my HP PSC 1600. Other programs on the Mac can print, but not filemaker. The jobs just sit in the print queue. I've tried exporting the records as pdfs, but that causes Filemaker to crash! Saving as a pdf from the print dialog box does nothing. I've reinstalled Filemaker, fixed disc/permissions using Disc Utility from the Leopard DVD. No change. I've also binned the HP printer prefs. Any help would be great. Thanks, kev.
Maarten Witberg
have you installed the leopard compatibility patch (8.5v2) ? check http://www.filemaker.com/downloads
kev100
Hi Kjoe, yes, I have. The problem started when FM was still in v1. I thought that installing the patch would help, but it hasn't. Cheers, Kev.
Maarten Witberg
what if you make a new demo file and try to print from that? just create one text field in one record and the quick fox jumps over the lazy dog and see what happens.
kev100
Hi Kjoe, yep. tried that. Made a new file using a template. created a new record, same thing. Cheers, kev.
Maarten Witberg
I seem to remember a recent thread about this but I can't locate it. Maybe someone else has a pointer. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.
kev100
Hi all, I did some more research on the net, and found the fix. It appears that Filemaker has trouble with fonts which it believes are corrupt. The fix was really simple. First, I quit all apps. Then, I created a new folder on the desktop called fonts temp and moved all the fonts from the HD/Library/Fonts folder into it. I then launched Filemaker, and found that everything was fine again, so I quit FM again, moved all the fonts back to their former location, and when I started FMP again, everything was back to normal. Cheers, Kev.
