Document scanning and storage solutions?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We are a magazine publisher and use a custom built FileMaker database for our circulation records. We manually enter subscription data (name, address, etc) and would like to be able to make a scan of both the subscription form and the payment (ie, the check). We would want to use simple PaperPort style document scanners and the solution would have to be fast and simple. The scans would preferably be stored on a server and not be in the database (ie, not in a container field). We would only want to access the scans if there is some problem (eg, a magazine is returned by the post office and we want to make sure we typed in the address correctly).

Can anybody suggest any solutions or combinations of solutions that would allow us to do this?

We use Mac OS X (currently 10.4) and FileMaker v7, though we plan to upgrade to v9 in the next couple of months.

Thanks!

Dave Garrison

You might want to have a look at a FileMaker plug-in called InsideScan for that job.

Great, thanks. If anyone has other suggestions, though, I would love to hear them. I'm a bit suspicious of InsideScan since the product seems to have stalled short of shipping 2.0 since April 07 (based on what their website says).

Hello!

If you want to scan all the documents then you can use online websites which scan the document quickly.
