evolve
Hiya I'm newbie to filemaker pro and have a pondering question. I know that you can import a sql database, which i have done. But can you run filemaker pro online? My query is because we have clients that will be running from a main base (online) and then have field agents that will be out and about and fill info and then export it to the main database. Is this possible? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Kim
David Head
Do you want the agents to have an offline copy of the database? or do you want them to access the database through a web connection? Will they be simply adding records or updating existing records?
evolve
All of the above. The field agents will need to be able to work offline and online. And add and edit entries. Thanks
David Head
In that case, you will have synchronisation issues. Consider this - agent A takes an offline copy of the data, adds new records and also edits existing records. Agent B is working online and edits the same records as agent A. When agent A returns her data to the online database, which edit do you want to keep?
evolve
Thanks for the input. If we ignore offline aspect. Can we create this online? Cheers Kim
