FM7, Mac OSx: cant get DSN to connect

Recommended Posts

the3rdParty

I want to access FM7.03 data from Excel 2004 via ODBC, with everything on the same machine (running 10.3.9) - no network involved - and am getting nowhere. The ODBC driver from filemaker never manages to connect to the database, and when I try a test connect I get an error "HY000 [DataDirect][ODBC Sequelink driver][sequelink Client] TCP/IP host is not specified".

I believe I have the driver and DSN correctly configured via the iODBC Data Source Administrator, and have followed the guidelines set out in FM's "ODBC and JDBC Developers Guide":

The Host value is set to 'localhost', and have also tried 127.0.0.1 with the same result.

Port is set to 2399

ServerDataSource is set to the db file name (no spaces or dblbyte charatcters),

the database is open,

ODBC/JDBC sharing is on,

the account has sufficient privileges

correct priviliges are set via the finder for the xDBC components.

There is no other version of filemaker running (though FM6 is present on the machine and it has sharing disabled).

Any ideas?

Thanks

This error occured when the FMP files is not open.

You have to keep the fMp file open while you run your script ...

Do you use the LDAP authentification ?

you have to use the FMP authentification or download the missing stuff for LDAP authentification.

1. the host application (filemaker) and the client (excel) are on the same machine, and I thought that under these conditions LDAP is not required.

2. As far as I am aware LDAP is a feature of FM7 server and not FM7 pro. So if its required then I may be at a dead end.

3. You indicate that there may be components available for download. I can find nothing on FMs website. Can you give me a link?

4. Digging around more I see that with FM7 Pro it was impossible to use FM as a data source or host via ODBC on the Mac OS (only Windows). This shortcoming was (in principle) corrected with the 7.03 upgrade, but somewhere I picked up a snippet that hinted that under 7.03 access was only possible using JDBC, which throws me even further into unknown territory.

Hi All,

FileMaker 10 Advance Server on Windows 2008 Server.

• Port 2399 open on Firewall

• ODBC works for all Windows users.

For the MAC OSX users we are getting error:

: No such a account (212)

However this account “report” works fine on Win using ODBC connection

????smiley-cry

MAC client:

OSX 1.4x and 1.5x

iODBC DSN and Userdsn info:

Host: ServerIP here

Port:2399

datasource: ID

Please advice,

Thanks in advance,So Cool!

A
