UK Malc
Foolishly I set a startup script with a first line 'Close Window' thinking it would simply leave me with an open file with no windows open so that I could then, within the script, open the windows I wanted. But of course it closes the whole database!!! Help. (FMPro8 on Windows XP) smiley-frown

UK Malc
Thanks kjoe, LoRetta's post in your link did the trick - creating a new related file then writing a script to "go to related record in . . . ." and checking the box to show a layout from the related (broken file). By the way, using a similar sort of technique with Value Lists from other files doesn't seem to work. Phew.. thanks. smiley-smile UK Malc
