newbie with IWP question

I'm using Filemaker 11 Advance on a Mac OSX10.8.5. I've set up a database with FM11 and have been able to publish it with IWP and have been able to access my file from other computers on the same network. My problem is I can't find a way to access my files from other computers that's not on the same wifi network. Unfortunately, I don't have a static IP address. In FM11, when I go to IWP,the URL they list is my ip from my home router. I've also set my port as 591 and it works find on the local network. I've port forwarded 591 on my home router. I've turned off all the wirewalls on the router as well as my computer. I'm able to access my computer w…

The IWP interface for my client's database has buttons attached to scripts that take awhile to execute (120-180 seconds). Buttons in IWP never seem particularly good at visual feedback to show that they have indeed been clicked and the ones on this layout are particularly bad about that. (not sure why). Nothing I've tried so far creates a visual indicator that "yeah you clicked / yes we're processing your request / no you don't need to keep clicking over and over, we're working on it". Or, rather, they all work but in IWP web browserland those visual indicators aren't apparent until AFTER the damn script has finished running. This includes cute things like "Go t…

I have a button on a layout to be used by IWP clients, to which the button-function Revert Record (no dialog, of course) is assigned. It's labeled "Undo Changes". Client for whom I'm doing the db emailed me to say the button isn't working in IWP. OK this is quite weird. I opened IWP. It behaved as my client described, where Undo Changes wasn't doing anything in IWP. Opened it in FileMaker Pro so I could watch the record being changed or not being changed by IWP, to see if the change is being recorded BEFORE the IWP user would have a chance to click Undo Changes, somehow. Hello! I use FileMaker Pro 8 and PHP to remotely access a FileMaker Server. I noticed that there is a great difference in speed when searching for records through FileMaker and PHP API. I have a Layout for employees' records(firstname, surname and another 30 fields). When I use FileMaker to search for records, even if I search for only one field(first name) it returns 150 results instantly while through PHP it gets at least 5 seconds. When I use a different layout (for the same table) which has only one field (first name) the results are a lot faster. So, I finally got my database published to IWP, but I've hit a bit of a snag. The license key that I have for Filemaker 11 Advanced is being seen as "in use" by the server when people connect to the webpage. So, regardless of who is running the database via IWP, the server "sees" my key as in use by that person. Not sure what's going on, but I figure it's a one button solution sort of thing.

I have very simple script If [ ProdInfo ::League :: NHL] Go to Layout ["Genereal" (General)] End if also i have a drop-down list and id did set it to trigger onObjectModify using the above script and i works perefectly fine when i am on filemake pro but as soon i as go to instant web publishing the script doesn't work i thought IWP supports script, am i doing something wrong ?

In the summary.php file, I can change the sort order (I'm using the modification date) to make most recent first (sort is DESCENT). Here is my problem : the record doesn't sort inside the same « date block ». I can use the timestamp (date and time) but it create a « summary block » for each record (because the smallest unit used is the second). Any solution? (Is it possible to sort by timestamp the records inside a « date block » ?) Martin

Hi all! I have a small problem, and I'm sure the solution is obvious, but I can't get it... I have a field with a list of values. On the layout, the field is set to display values as radiobuttons. In the php file « addrecord.php » (generated by the PHP Assistant), the values are written « back to back ». This make the web page cumbersome as the values appears in the same line (approx 10 values). I just uploaded a database into FM Server 11 Advanced and noticed that some of the assigned logins are not allowing access to specific layouts. This is a report card database and the teacher logins are based on their grade and subject, e.g. k5art is the art teacher for grades K-5, 7english is the 7th grade English teacher, and so on. All of the teachers have the same password. Not high security here, but done so as each login drops the teacher into their layout and populates with just their students. For a couple of the teachers, their login puts them in the database but comes up with an empty screen and the drop down menu of layouts doesn't show their layout. I…

I need to have some common searches available as links - like the text "BLUE" would return the record list for all records with field "COLOR" that contains "BLUE" Simple enough (I guess, as I am not a php'er) - but how do I do this, not knowing the variables actual names and how to get php to go into FileMaker's Black Box and run that search for me? Hello, I'm working with Filemaker server 11. I'm try to export the data from the FM11 database by XML. Before the weekend it works all fine. So i'm sure that the configuration, username and right, is correct. From this morning it is impossible to get the XML. I always get message that the resources are moved(404). Possible i delete some file when i cleaned up my server. Do someone know how i can repear it so the export to XML will work again? thanks in advance greetings Koen

Dear All, I'm new to Filemaker Pro 11. Recently i started with a FMP solution and im stuck with Quick Find. I realize that when i connected as client via IWP, it did not show me the Quick Find like what i had in Host. By using Quick Find in Host, whenever using a USB Barcode Scanner to scan a barcode and it show me the data in my database. I wanted that feature on my client status bar when connected via IWP. Is there any possible to do it? Hope that is someone who can guild me through out the whole process.

Hello, all. Big fan of this forum, it's been a boon to me on those late nights when I'm unable to find a solution to a tricky problem. Here's a stumper for which I can't find any threads. My client has reported an issue using a database over IWP (FMSA11): when entering data into a portal (unfiltered, sorted by Mod Date newest to oldest), something odd happens. Let's say there is a field "A" with values in a checklist, and next to each check is a field "B" for details of that item. I am having a problem with PHP, an inconsistency in which code that executes just fine on my development server is misbehaving on the server on which my client is attempting to deploy it. I have a database for a smallish membership (100 or so newspapers) and I want to email them every few months a URL to click on that will bring them to an online page with their data, and ask them to look it over, make sure it is up to date. I've seen this technique used elsewhere and not sure how to replicate. I imagine I need a field for a lengthy random unique value for each of the members. I imagine I need a layout with no navigation, so the member viewing that page is not easily lead to other pages. My undertsanding is that a shared database should at least appear in a browser belonging to the same computer, at the address http://localhost/ , regardless of the network status. For some reason, my databases (which used to be available on the Internet) do not appear anymore. Just to be on the sure side, i created a database with a random name (to avoid possible namefiles conflicts), but still no database available at the localhost. I am using FM Pro 11 Advanced to publish a database that is currently being hosted at MacUSA. I've noticed that all my web content gets thrown to the left. I normally use SoftPress Freeway to design web sites and have grown accustomed to centering all my web page content. How does one center content using FileMaker Pro Web Publishing? Please note that I am not talking about centering text. I am talking about taking the entire content of a web page and putting that content right smack in the horizontal center of the web browser window. Thank you.

I am having difficulty getting value lists to display on my website using the getValueList function. I have followed the formats I found in various forums and blogs. I can get the arrays that are intermediates in the calculation to prints but I cannot get the final results. I have tried two different methods listed below neither giving success. Hello, We are working on a kind of project management application for which we have developed a web portal for our customers to login and see a dashboard with overall status of the project. That is, project health, issues, task completion.. However, our customer has been asking us to implement a dynamic timeline where they can easily see "where we are at Vs where we should be.."
