I have a table with about 2000 records. Each record has a unique serial number field, automatically entered on commit in the normal way. Some records get deleted over time and their serial number therefore goes with them. Is there a way to know which numbers are then missing? IOW, between the lowest serial number and the highest serial number there will be gaps in the consecutive order. I'd like to establish a list of those missing numbers. TTTWK!

Hi: I am using this calculation: Let ( [c_ink =LINES_spot::spot_cr]; GetValue ( ValueListItems ( Get ( FileName ) ; "status_ink" ); 1 ) ) Result is work BUT when user try to change the value from the drop down list, popup message shown: "This action cannot be performed because this field is not modifiable." I want the user could change the default to another item in the value list if need be. Any idea? Regards, a_sun

Hey all! I am trying to write a custom function to replace and/or substitute several items at once and I am having trouble with the syntax. I need to take this input "Monday February 4 2019" and convert it to "2/4/2019". Basically I need to disregard the days of the week, replace the month text with the month number, and convert the spaces to slashes/ Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

missing calculations on summary report

I have encountered an oddity? I created an invoice style layout but the last sub-summary doesn't perform the calculation. What I find odd about this is that the same calculation works in the instance above. Pictures attached to demonstrate. Anyone have thoughts?

How can I get Filemaker to return the month name based on week number? I.E. week # 3 = January, Week Number 6 = February ETC. I have multiple records that I have grouped based on week number and I would like to show the month Name that those records fall in based on which week number they are in. Thanks

We are using FileMaker in my class. When the students assign an Admin password, it always works. When they assign Guest access to have either Read-Only or Data Entry, all is fine until they test it by logging in. The message they get is "The account name and password you entered does not match those for any FileMaker account". When they check the passwords in Security, the password has been changed to a 20-digit password every time. Any ideas how to get around this please?

I have an existing database with the following fields. LOT NUMBER, LOT SOLD I want to import a tab delimited file that will contain two fields Lot Number and Sold The Lot number in the original database is all the lots in an auction. Say lots 1 to 100 The lot number in the imported field will be just the lot numbers that sold, and the amount it sold for. So, the imported fields may have say lots 1,2,5,6,8,9 and the corresponding amount each lot sold for. I have a global field that is related by = join to a regular text field. The regular text field contains "match" (all lower case). If I enter MaTch in the global I still get a match; but I want it to be exact match.(case sensitive) match=match MaTch not= match. Thanks!

I'm using FM11 Advance, Created a global field to hold an icon. Using "Insert Picture" as its a .png file and all works find with the database on my laptop. However, when I implemented it on the server database and "Inserted Picture" it's there until I close the database. When reopening the file the field is empty. Any idea why?

Hi I have what is probably a very simple problem, so apologies if I have posted in the incorrect area. I have a field which is a calculation field. (Calculates an expiry time based upon which session the product was made in) The manufacturers have updated their session times and want me to update the calculated expiry time. The issue is that we don't want to recalculate any existing records. Is there a way around this? Thank you

In Filemaker's Starter Solution database called Invoice, the "duplicate record" command only copies the customer info, not the entire invoice with the field data from the Products table. I need to write a script that duplicates the current invoice AND all of the products associated with that invoice. Of course, the duplicate record needs to be assigned a unique Invoice number. Hi All, I just joined this forum and am having trouble creating a conditional value list. I have table of rental properties. The 3 fields that come into play are: 1. "name" that is a calculation based on the address, 2)"HouseNum" a unique serial number, and 3. "Active" either yes or no. I want a value list that only shows active properties ("Active" = "Yes"), that returns the serial value, and only displays the "Name" Field in the value list. It's the constraining to Active = "yes" that I'm having the most problems with. Note, my profile says FM 10 server, I'm actually using 11, not 10 Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi there, I have two fields designed to function as running headers (First Head [FH] and Second Head [sH]) for 253 records. The running part (re-use of the same main/secondary header) is handled by a related table, which works. I now need to do the following: (1) If FH is not empty, I want FileMaker to generate a unique number/ID in the "FH Calcu" field for that particular record. (A serial number if you will.) For the next non-empty instance, FileMaker should compute a new (unique) number or ID, ideally [last computed number + 1]. This works well. Companies table holds the company name and the products, order table displays the company name and lets you select the product.(Item). Hi there, I am in the middle of an invoicing database for someone. They have both labour rates and parts. Both on their each portal on the invoice. In some cases they wish to not enter an id for either a labour rate or part, they want to just enter some kind of a note and then charge a flat rate for the whole thing....kind of like a rate for a friend. Not sure how to incorporate this into the program. I thought about just having a flat rate table, like a parts table that can have records entered via a portal on a tab attached to the labour rates tab/portal. But then i thought if nothing is is entered on the front tab how do i get the tab with the flat rate …

FM 11 crashes when I set up a chart

My FM 11 application has started crashing whenever I try to set up a chart. It lets me do everything then crashes when I press OK. I have tried setting up a new file to test it and it does the same thing.I have also tried restoring the application from my backups, but that didn't help. I upgraded on line so I can't go back to a disk copy. Any ideas anyone? Thanks
