I was wondering if there is a way to set up a calendar in FM for daily appointments. Does FM have a template so you can pick and choose a particular day and month like in outlook or other calendars? I would like to be able to customize a calendar for our needs.

jpg images disappearing from the layout

I have stored jpg images in my FMP 8.5 database for years. Now they are disappearing and reappearing within the container field and when pasted directly on the layout. I cannot copy the images to use elsewhere. I saw another person was having this problem with Photoshop images. What is going on? What to do? Thanks, CatherineTodd2 (at) gmail (dot) com

I've created a field that I would like to format to be valid only if it has a code name of 3 letters and 3 numbers (i.e. SCH123). Anything less or more and a warning dialog will come up. How can I set this up in the Validation window? Is it a calculation? Thanks!

I use web viewer alot, and I'm not sure if Google's API coding, especially Google's Map API, can be used as part of web viewer. I suspect API capability is limited to actual web page design and not web addresses as used by web viewer. Any thoughts?

I'm using Filemaker 8.5 on a Mac ... I want to create a script that will loop through several records where it duplicates the first record and then makes modifications to the duplicate then continues through the rest of the records doing the same thing ... does that makes sense? Firstly, I'm an amateur when it comes to Filemaker, and I'm still using V8.5 having graduated from V3 after a decade using this version - why V3, simply because it allowed networking. Now you have to buy licences, etc. Wish I had a superannuation policy like this! All, Thank you for taking your time to examine my problem. My db has invoice and estimate tables related to different occurrences of the repairs and object tables for which I am invoicing and estimating. I have not been able to design the database to have both estimates and invoices get their data from the same occurrence because I get a circular logic error ("There cannot be more than one relational path...). Is there a way to push the data from one occurrence to another? The relationship diagram is attached as a jpg. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I am using Filemaker 8.5 advanced and in my Filemaker application I have implement payment system using web service calls. I have no clue as to how to initialize an instance, Exchange public keys to obtain a token and with that token , I have to charge the credit card making web service calls. Is there any plug-in for web services? I looked at the URL one from Troi, but not sure if that works for web service calls. If this feature is available in newer versions of Filemaker, It might a while to upgrade the softwares but this payment system has to be implemented in a month or two. Please help! Thanks

I'm really new to FM 8.5 and I've been task to create pdf files for a particular set of records meeting a criteria. Since I'm more skilled in SQL, I'd like to use the Execute SQL script. I'm not sure how to implement assigning records to fields or layout?, but my idea goes something like these : 1. Go to a layout 2. Use sql to select the records 3. Perform loop 4. Hi, I've created a value list derived from whole names on a People table. I'm using the PersonID field, but I'm also displaying the WholeName of the person. Furthermore, I've checked the "Show values only from second field". When using a pop-up menu, this all works fine. I select the WholeName, and the WholeName displays in the field. When using a drop-down list, however, I select the WholeName, but the PersonID insists on filling the field. Why is this behaviour different for drop-down lists? I really need to use one, because my value list is based on 500+ people and you can imagine how scrolling via the pop-up menu is going. Thanks!

Is it possible to customize the 'Save Records As PDF' fields so that the same choices are fixed as the defaults? With Filemaker Pro 8.5 records I always: Save Type as PDF. In the process, the next setting is always: Save: Current Record Followed by the Options > Initial View > always being set as: Current Record What I am seeking to achieve is the above settings to be the defaults as opposed to the standard options being displayed and the above having to be selected. Hi everyone. My work uses an old database for everything it does. The database designer isn't around anymore, and now I have to learn FM Pro 8.5 from scratch to be able to make changes in the database. So far I think I'm doing well, but I cannot figure out why the entire database is uppercase. I know there is an UPPER function, but I don't see it anywhere. Everything over the many pages, input/output of this database is uppercase. Any idea where I might find the source of THIS? Thanks

I would like to have a button next to the container field for the manual that would automatically open the PDF file for viewing. So far I haven't been able to figure this one out. I'm building my first database and it's a complex one. I watched tutorials about relationships and have my structure set up. I have many-to-many relationships between the tables Presentations and Products, so I made a table between them with the foreign keys in that table (Line Products). Now, I want to create related records: one presentation must have more than one product, but I can't figure out how to create the link between a record from Presentations and a record from products? Later, I want to create a portal to show data from the other table, but without related records, of course that doesn't work. Maybe a simple solutions, hopefully someone can help.

Hi. Our company has two employees. The 65-year-old owner and me, who has to do everything he can't do: CSS/HTML, Photoshop, audio/video editing, teaching him how to use his iPhone, everything. Something new every day, and most of it I have no previous experience with. Including FM Pro 8.5. The previous "me" built an extensive FM system. It is stable. Hello all, I am having trouble with sub summary parts. I have a layout that I would like to have two sub summary parts on, both sorting by a different break field. Right now, my first sub summary part sorts by a field called "Buyer Type." That sub summary works fine. Hello, Im trying to get a max number from a range of records based on todays date this is what I have tried but its not working. If (Comic Orders::Ship Date ≤ Get(CurrentDate) ; Max ( Comic Orders::Title number )) The records i am entering the data into are from the "Comic Orders" table. I am pulling the "Title Number" from the "Comic Orders" table They are related via the "Series Code" field. This formula pulls the max number from the entire series what I need is the max number up to todays date.
