Hi! I'm having problems in sending email with Mozilla Thunderbird from a FM7 database. On a MacOS X, when I perform the "send mail" script, it simply doesn't work... nothing! If I do the same thing on Windows XP, it works perfectly... Thunderbird is the default mailer in each OS, and it sounds a bit strange that it doesn't recognize the send mail script only with Mac OSX. I've tried as well with the OpenURL script, writing "mailto:" & dbase::email_address and it works... But I could not populate it with BCC (I have to send mails with that option!). I've read all the previous posts and threads, but I couldn't find any suitable solution... Any hint?…

You can test your email client by creating small html file, copying it and pasting the text into your emailer and mail it to yourself. Thunderbird 3.1.9 and Windows 7l and Filemaker 11 allow me to send HTML email. BUT... I have to click send in Thunderbird for every message I send. The process is not totally automated. i have a question. is there anyway to tag certain files with a timer or an alert. For example. I have 100 items in my invoice with deadlines to be meet and i need an email alert if time goes by too long before they are finished. Is there something like that in filemaker pro? thanks

Has anyone a script or calculation to validate email fields so that they are accepted as real emails by Outlook / Outlook Express ? If an email has been entered as say "abc&ddd.co.uk" the send mail will not work. It will block without warning in the middle of a bulk mail action.... It looks like the validation has to check a)that each character is on a list of approved possible characters b) that the field contains at the end a possible character string in the form ".XX" or ".XXX" c) that it contains '@' preceded by at least one character and followed by at least two characters before the "." d) that there are no spaces ......

I am trying to figure out how to take the results from a search and email them. I want to send the contents of a container field to the contact. So if I could search by a status code within my system and it comes up with 30 files. I would then create an email for each file, including certain fields and most important the contents of the container fields.

Hi all, I've built a system for contact tracking with the ability to send out a mass email to certain contacts. The BCC field can get pretty lengthy. In Mac OS X using Mail.app, I've never had a problem with it. However when using Outlook, the BCC field gets capped a 255 characters. Has anyone else run into this problem, and if so, how'd you work around it? Thanks.

I have rarely used the Send Mail script step, so this may be an incredibly simple question that I'm stuck on. I've created a table with email templates and have set it up to send single messages to all individuals across a found set. A text field holds the body of the message ("Dear friend, blah, blah...") and it works perfectly. Now I want to insert each person's name, but simply inserting a merge field isn't working ("Dear >," is returning 50 emails with that literal line rather than "Dear Joe," etc.). Can someone tell me what I'm missing? Thanks.

The title says it all. Even with the standard templates scripts in FM, after clicking on the script for sending, the whole DB shut downs, stops responding. I changed the script to Send Mail [to:contacts::email] But no difference. I am using outlook express/PC/ explorer. It seems that a few weeks ago this was working fine for test emails. But now??? Where to look? thanks

Hi All I have been searching the forum for ways to save a PDF using the field contents of (for eg) Order_ID. as the name. I did find the following calc Set Variable $POpdf Get ( DocumentsPath )& "/Purchase Orders/Purchase Order " & PO::Order_ID & ".pdf" This variable, which I understand, will create a pdf name and path to save it to the PO folder in my documents folder. I may have asked for this before, but never found a solution so I am asking again in a better more specific question. I am sending out a notification of a record change in filemaker. Is it possible to include a link in that email that filemaker is sending out, that would allow the user to click on it, and go directly to that specific record in filemaker? Hi, I am using Filemaker 8.5 on Mac OSx. I have set up an e-mail script to send multiple e-mails to a list attaching a photograph to the e-mail. All is well with that( after a bit of headwrecking). The problem is the photograph appears at the head of the e-mail, before the "dear xxx, etc." How do I get the photograph to attach to the base of the body content of the e-mail? The script step being used is " Send email" the attachment is made by doing a "Set Variable " to the filename and attaching that way. The body text is input from a field in the table in the "Send Email" script. Thanks to all in advance, the forum is a really great resource.

First off, I'm on Windows XP (my company makes me use it) and I am using file maker 7 and 8. I created a button that uses the send email script. When I click on the button to send the mail, it brings up outlook and creates the message with all of the correct information in all of the correct places. The problem starts from there. When I click on send, the message does not send. It just sits there. I have multiple accounts on my outlook and it won't send from any of them. I don't have any problems sending emails from outlook regularly, so I can't tell if this is an outlook problem or a filemaker problem. Can anyone help?

I've created a script that uses the Send Mail Feature from Filemaker Pro 8.5. Everything works great: the email is populated, the specifief file is attached, but I have two questions: 1) When I press send in outlook nothing happens. It just sits there. If I wait a while, I save the message and it appears in my inbox. If I open the message in the inbox, I can press send and it works great. 2) Is there a way to send the email as an HTML message rather than strictly text? Thanks!

I have had a good search through other discussions but have yet found the answer. I am using fmp8, and know it has the capability to save/send pdf's. I have the following in a script: Step 1. [save Records as PDF] In the Specify Output File i have placed the network location i want to save the PDF to. (filewin://Office2/my documents/Quotes PDF's/Quotation.pdf) This saves the pdf as "Quotation" in the selected folder, but i do not want it saved as Quotation(was a default i set it to), but i want to save the pdf as as FIELD RESULT (a Quote Number). Hi All, I've had a quick look through some of the threads but could not find anything helpful on how to embed an image at the top of an email. I'm OK with sending multiple emails and using fields to personalize the content of the email but can't find a way to post an image. I have a container with a Logo image (same for every record) pasted in. Including that field in the Calculated Field for the email just inserts the text reference to the file. "image.jpg" Is there a way to get this done? Thanks in advance Steve

Server error message from too many emails

When sending emails across a found set of records, I'm getting an error message from my outgoing mail server (in my case Comcast) saying there are "too many connections". I'm sending them as "multiple emails - one for each record in found set. I was told by a Comcast rep that it's to prevent spam abuse, but surely I can't be the only person who wants to send more then one email at a time w/out CC'ing everone on my list.
